Rain’s back.
A series of storms are lashing the Pacific Northwest this week with heavy rain and high winds. Some areas across the Plateau are under flood watches or warnings through Wednesday, after which the rain is forecasted to relax a bit, according to a National Weather Service statement.
Crucially, the Green River will be near a minor flooding stage today (Tuesday) in some areas, the Weather Service warns. Low-lying areas could see flooding as the river crests late Tuesday morning. (It is forecast to fall back below flood stage by the evening.) Motorists should use extreme caution and not press their luck driving around barricades or through flooded areas.
High rainfall also weakens soil and increases the threat of landslides. Stay cautious in wet and slide-prone areas and keep an eye out for collapsed pavement, mud, fallen rock and other debris on the roadway.
The City of Buckley is under a flood watch that lasts through Wednesday afternoon, and while the City of Enumclaw proper is not listed under any hazardous weather, other areas around the Plateau are. The Muckleshoot Reservation and Auburn areas are under a flood warning lasting through Wednesday morning. Flood warnings are also in effect along the Green River in the Flaming Geyser and Black Diamond areas.
This story will be updated as there are weather developments to report.
