Street Fair next event up for Plateau

Join the tradition of the Enumclaw Street Fair, presented by the Enumclaw Rotary, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 22 and 23. Both days offer family fun with more than 150 vendors, all lining Cole Street. A carnival returns to the downtown parking lot, bringing games and rides for all ages.

Those planning to enjoy the rides can save $5 and prepurchase discount tickets. They will be available at the Chamber of Commerce, Enumclaw Aquatic Center and Mail Express. Ticket booklets in advance are $18 or wristbands for all-day access for $20. Ticket booklets can be shared.

The Enumclaw Idol contest allows participants to belt their hearts out and work toward a $100 cash prize for the winner. The preliminaries are from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday on the main stage and the finals wrap up at 5 p.m. Saturday. Contestants must be between the ages of 12 and 20 and reside in the Enumclaw, White River or Tahoma school district. Pre-registration is required, as there are only 20 spots available; applications are available at www.enumclawstreetfair.com or at Enumclaw Music.

The 5k walk/run race is back for a fourth year, again sponsored by the Enumclaw Regional Healthcare Foundation. All participants should be ready at 9 a.m. the 23rd. Packet pick-up starts at 7:30 a.m. at the start line at the corner of Railroad Street and Myrtle Avenue. Entry forms can be completed online or a printable form can be downloaded at www.enumclawstreetfair.com.

At 5 p.m. July 23, the Enumclaw Rotary hosts the duck drop behind the library. Rubber ducks will be dropped from a hot air balloon for prizes.

For those attending Creation Fest at the Expo Center, a free shuttle will be provided to transport people from downtown to the fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
