Street Fair takes over downtown Friday and Saturday

The heart of downtown will come alive as members of the local Rotary Club present the Enumclaw Street Fair Friday and Saturday.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, offering something for all ages. Cole Street will be lined with arts and craft vendors, canopy merchants, more food vendors than before and family activities for all ages.

New this year is the Jest in Time Circus. Topper Todd and Li Li Zucchini, the wacky performers of the Jest in Time Circus are just two of the many performers at this year’s street fair. Their unique family entertainment combines juggling, physical comedy, dueling toilet paper blowers, flying pizzas and their amazing trick dog, Ticker.

Before each show, visitors will see them riding around downtown announcing their circus shows on their old-fashioned, big-wheeled bikes.

This year, crowds will be able to enjoy entertainment nonstop as a third entertainment stage has been added. The Courier-Herald has sponsored the “Courier-Herald Court” at the intersection of Cole Street and Mytle Avenue. This stage gives local entertainers a glimpse of the spotlight throughout the two-day event. Local entertainers include square dancers, Tae Kwon Do Connection, Native American dancers, youth soloist and bands, a kick-flip contest and a Wild West puppet show. The main stage will host various musical acts and others, including Reptile Man and Cowboy Buck. Headline bands include Storm Creek (high voltage country), One Way Out (a tribute to the Allman Brothers), Jake Payne and Dixie Creek (country), Boys of Greenwood Glen (Irish bluegrass) and 41 Miles (soft rock). A full entertainment schedule will be posted by each stage.

The Enumclaw Regional Healthcare Foundation sponsors the second annual 5k walk/run. Registration forms can be picked up at the Enumclaw Fitness Center or Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce or downloaded from www.enumclawstreetfair.com. Pre-registration fees are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and children and $25 for a family. The price goes up day of registration. This race is for everyone – all participants will receive a goodie bag from Runner’s World and a water bottle.

Children’s activities include pony rides, the Thomasson Family Farm tractor-train rides, kids korral, airbrush face painting, jousting, bounce house, jungle tunnel, free kid crafts, dunk tank, “what’s your speed,” super slide, free sandbox playtime, Bible dress-up, little tyke play area and more. Discounted coupon books will be available for $15 (valued at $20) or individual tickets for each activity ranging from $1 to $5 will be available.

Other offerings at this years Street Fair include food vendors including Long Horn Barbecue, Ramblin’ Gourmet, pizza by the slice and more.

New this year is the first Street Fair Kick Flip Contest sponsored by Monkey Rides($3 preregistration required at Monkey Rides on Myrtle Avenue). There also will be a Friday market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring goods from some of the finest farms in the area.
