STUCK IN THE LAKE: Officers were dispatched on Feb. 13 for a report of a possible vehicle collision. When officers arrived, they discovered a car in the Lake Tapps mud bank with severe damage. Officers also saw a street sign that was knocked over. A record check of the car gave officers the address for the owner, and they made contact. The driver told officers he went home to get help pulling the car out of the mud. He said he crashed because his brakes wouldn’t work. Officers smelled intoxicants while talking to the driver and a breath test showed him to be over .08 BAC. Officers issued a citation for the hit and run and a speeding infraction.
FALSE STATEMENT: Officers pulled over a car for a broken tail light on Feb. 13. The driver admitted he had a suspended license but he was driving to his job and that he may have a warrant. A record check confirmed this information until a passenger in the car called the driver a different name. Officers ran another record check with the driver’s real name and found he had two outstanding warrants. The driver was transported to Nisqually jail and cited for driving without a license.
