Summer lunch program going on now

The Bread of Life and Bonney Lake food banks will participate in providing lunch and supper to children at five sites in Bonney Lake.

Bonney Lake Community Resources earlier this month announced sponsorship of the Simplified Summer Food Program for Children. The Bread of Life and Bonney Lake food banks will participate in providing lunch and supper to children at five sites in Bonney Lake.

The sites are Allan Yorke Park, Cedar View Park, Ponderosa Estates, Rhododendron Park, and Prairie Ridge Park.

Under the program, meals will be made available at no charge to attending children 18 years of age or under.

“Hunger does not end at the last school bell,” Bread of Life and Bonney Lake food banks director Stew Bowen said. “Many of our kids need food through the summer to stop hunger in their lives.”

The program began June 22 and ends September 2.

Lunch is provided at all locations, and dinner is provided at Allan Yorke and Cedar View.

At Allan Yorke, food is served Monday through Sunday. Lunch will be served 12:30 to 1 p.m., and dinner will be served 4:30 to 5 p.m.

All other locations will serve food from Monday to Friday.

Cedar View will serve lunch from 11 to 11:30 a.m., and dinner from 4:30 to 5 p.m.

Ponderosa Estates will serve lunch 11:30 to 11:45 a.m.

Rhododendron Park will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Prairie Ridge Park will serve lunch from 12 to 12:30 p.m.

All meals are available without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
