East Pierce Fire and Rescue hosted the first of two Summer Splash-Tacular events July 27 at Pierce County North Tapps Park.

Another Summer Splash-Tacular day will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., August 10 at Allan Yorke Park.

These two images show different marijuana retail zoning regulations Black Diamond councilmembers could adopt and how it could affect where those retailers could operate within the city. The red area represents where retailers can operate, and the black where marijuana producers and processors could set up. The dark green are places like schools and playgrounds (mandatory 1,000 foot barrier). The light green areas are mostly open space like Lake Sawyer Park and the Black Diamond Open Space, but also playgrounds and the community center. This image demonstrates how a 100-foot buffer between retailers and anything operating in the light green areas would affect pot shops. See below for an image with a 1,000-foot barrier.
