Cole Street will come alive Friday and Saturday as the local Rotary Club presents the Enumclaw Street Fair.
Activities are slated for 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day and organizers are planning entertainment for guests of all ages. Cole Street will be lined with more than 120 arts and craft vendors and local merchants will be able to display their offerings.
New this year is Funtastic Carnival, which will set up in the parking lot between Stevenson and Initial avenues.
Enough entertainment has been scheduled to fill two stages. The Main Stage will host country vocalists Jonathon Harris and Rae Solmonson acoustic guitarist Tom Taylor, the classic rock sounds of Howling Rain and acoustic rockers The Kevin Jones Band, along with local square dancers.
Children’s entertainment will include the Reptile Man and the wacky Professor Bamboozle, who will roam throughout the festival in entertaining costumes. Other acts include magic, illusional shows, balloon magic, critter magic and more.
Local vocalists will have an opportunity to show their talent at the first Enumclaw Idol contest from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Preregistration is required and contestants must reside in the Enumclaw School District boundaries and be between 8 and 18 years of age. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the top contestant. Applications are available at www.enumclawstreetfair.com and at Enumclaw Music.
The Enumclaw Regional Healthcare Foundation will sponsor the third annual 5k walk/run, which will follow a new course. Prizes will be available to the top finisher in each age and gender category. A printable entry form can be downloaded at www.enumclawstreetfair.com.
The Enumclaw Rotary Foundation has moved its annual “duck race” fundraiser to the Street Fair and introduces a new approach to picking the winning ducks. This year, instead of ducks racing down the Green River, they will be dropped from a hot air balloon tethered behind the public library. The conclusion to the event will be Saturday. More details will be available at the Rotary booth at the intersection of Cole Street and Initial Avenue during the operating hours of the Street Fair.
Other offerings at this year’s Street Fair include free doll making, free kids crafts at the Rotary booth, free face painting, pony rides, a rock climbing wall, Home Depot tile art projects and more.
