The Sumner High School class of 2007 walked across the stage at the White River Amphitheatre Monday to accept their diplomas.
A few showers and cool weather did not dampen the sprits of the nearly 300 seniors celebrating their commencement.
The school's jazz ensemble played as the family and friends found their seats.
The ceremony began a little after 7 p.m. while the school's symphonic band played “Pomp and Circumstance.”
“Today marks a milestone in our life,” Christie Little, the first class speaker, told her fellow graduates. “Take this opportunity and run with it, class of 2007. You will have no better chance to change your life than today.”
Kayla Haymaker, the second speaker, said, “This is our chance, class of 2007, don't settle for mediocrity. Take this opportunity and make a difference.”
The final class speaker, Kyle Vormestrand, quoted Bob Dylan, “Be courageous, be brave and in my heart you will stay forever young.”
The school's chamber choir and senior choral students sang “Seasons of Love.”
With the sun setting and rain showers stopped, Superintendent Donald Eismannn, who is retiring after 22 years with the school district, presented the final class of his career for graduation.
