The Sumner High School class of 2011 celebrated the end of 13 long years June 15 at the White River Amphitheater.
Class speaker Melissa Mitchell set the tone with a fun and funny speech that welcomed “distinguished guests, undistinguished guests, honored faculty and Mr. Clayton” and then told the class to never take or give advice to anyone, before offering her advice for the future.
Valedictorian Justin Niedermeyer then continued the fun with a speech that distorted famous quotes from history into sayings about Sumner High School.
In the end, the class moved their tassels (or “cat toys,” as Mitchell dubbed them), tossed their mortarboards and headed into the arms of their proud, waiting families for hugs, pictures and celebrations.
