Sumner High School graduated 346 students in the class of 2012, with 300 participating in commencement at White River Amphitheater last night.
Speakers were students Gabriele Phelps, Alexander Landes and first-year social studies teacher Melissa McDaniel.
Speeches followed the theme of enjoying the present.
“Don’t lose the magic and get caught up in how difficult life can be,” Phelps said. “Just do what makes you happy and everything else will be fine.”
“Just like teenage girls getting to the opening of the Twilight movies, we’ve focused on getting to the theater, instead of enjoying the experience,” Landes said.
The school Chamber Choir performed “Fix You,” by Coldplay.
In all, Class of 2012 students were awarded $2,646,183 in scholarships.
