A Sumner man recently won $100,000 playing Washington’s Lottery Hit 5 game. He claimed his prize at the Federal Way regional office on Monday, March 17 and told Lottery officials, “I always knew I would win!”
The man discovered he had a winning ticket on Sunday after calling the Washington’s Lottery 1-800 number. “My daughter lives two doors down from me, so I ran to her house to have her verify the numbers.”
A regular Washington’s Lottery player, he buys Lotto or Hit 5 tickets a few times a week and this is first big win. “I always play the same numbers, but this time I switched one number, and it resulted in me winning.”
The full-time caregiver, who plans to continue working and purchase a new car, bought the winning ticket from Day & Night Grocery at 1313 Main St. in Sumner. The retailer will receive a $1,000 selling bonus.
Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing scholarships to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
