THAT’S NOT YOURS!: On Nov. 9 an officer responded to the 1100 block of Valley Ave for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Officers arrived and were advised that she had been caught just one year ago shoplifting at the very same store and was trespassed as a result of that incident. Since she came back to the property after she was notified that she was not allowed to return, she was arrested for trespassing as well as for this incident of shoplifting. A records check showed that she had been arrested four other times for theft in Sumner and Puyallup. The arrestee was transported to Puyallup jail and booked on the above listed charges.
COMPUTER missing: On Nov. 10 at approximately 12:08 p.m. Sumner High School advised that a laptop computer belonging to a teacher was stolen from a classroom. The teacher advised he did not know how or when it was stolen and did not have a suspect in mind.
COMPUTER RETURNED: On Nov. 17 at approximately 1:30 p.m. a juvenile subject entered the Sumner Police Department and requested to talk with the police about his involvement in the theft of a computer from a classroom. The mother of the subject heard a rumor that her son might be involved and e-mailed the principal. The officer contacted the juvenile subject by phone at which time he confessed to the theft. The subject agreed to bring the stolen computer down to the station. During an interview with the subject he advised he stole the computer in hopes of selling it but when he asked around everybody said it wasn’t worth much. Officers attempted to contact another subject that was named by the original subject as a friend who was present during the theft. That subject never returned the officer’s calls to give his side of the story. Both subjects may face charges.
