On Friday Sumner Police Chief John Galle, Deputy Chief Brad Moericke and City Attorney Brett Vinson are among participants in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, an event which raises money and awareness for the Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County.

The center provides support for those affected by sexual assault and abuse.

Chief Galle joins the Heels of Justice team in the walk in Tacoma. Walk a Mile in Her shoes is not merely a figure of speech during the event, as male participants walk while wearing high-heeled shoes.

Sumner Downtown Association Executive Director Shelly Schlumpf assisted Chief Galle and Vinson in selecting the proper pair of shoes during a shopping excursion and showed photos of the men trying on their shoes to an amused City Council during the April 19 meeting.
