If someone drives a 1992 Honda Accord or 1995 Honda Civic they are at an increased risk of needing to file a vehicle theft report.
The 1992 Honda Accord and the 1995 Honda Civic are the number one and number two most-stolen cars in Washington, according to a report from The Northwest Insurance Council.
To help prevent more vehicles from being stolen, local police departments are participating in the Washington Auto Theft Prevention Authority to provide free steering-wheel locking devices, which are available while supplies last. People must provide proof of ownership of a Honda vehicle produced between 1991 and 1998.
The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, prosecutors and the insurance industry are working with the theft prevention authority to curb the state’s auto theft.
Residents of Sumner may get a steering-wheel locking device at the Sumner Police Department lobby between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, contact Det.Troy Nikolao at 253-299-5655.
