Sumner School District Science Fair winners announced

Several hundred people attended the 2010 K-8 Sumner School District Science Fair Feb. 6 at Mountain View Middle School.

Several hundred people attended the 2010 K-8 Sumner School District Science Fair Feb. 6 at Mountain View Middle School.

Kindergarten to fourth-grade students from the district’s eight elementary schools competed in one division, while fifth- through eighth-graders competed in another.

District Communications Director Ann Cook released the names of the division winners, along with specialty award winners.

Kindergarten division winners were:

1. Kira Denham (Microbes In My Milk), McAlder; 2. Carly Nelson (Does Colored Water Get Hot Faster), Bonney Lake; 3. Elisabeth Buchanan (How Do You Melt Ice Faster?), Maple Lawn; Honorable Mention: Aidan Hughes (Does Sugar Affect the Rate of Freezing Differenct Drinks?), McAlder; Taylor Stone (Craving Colors), Crestwood; Elisabeth Buchanan (How Do You Melt Ice Faster?), Maple Lawn; Elijah Bruce (Spinning Rocket), McAlder and Nathan Becker (The Magnet Experiment), Daffodil Valley.
