At the Oct. 18 meeting of the Sumner City Council, an ordinance aimed at making Sumner a more business-friendly environment unanimously was approved.
The ordinance changes Sumner’s zoning code to allow businesses with batteries stored on their property in the industrial zones.
Sumner is making a change to its zoning in an effort to create a more business-friendly environment.
The effect of the ordinance is to add, “Battery storage, distribution, and processing business” as a permitted use in both the M-1, and M-2 zones.
The manufacture of batteries is not allowed under the ordinance.
