The White River School Board gave Superintendent Jay Hambly the thumbs up at its recent board retreat April 28 in the district board/conference room.
Hambly has been on a year-to-year contract since resigning in 2002 to take advantage of the state's retire/rehire law which allows retired educators to collect their pensions while continuing to work without endangering those pensions.
Hambly, in his early 50s, has more than 30 years of service with the state.
Board President Jean Lacy said the board thought Hambly did an excellent job leading them through the process of building and opening the new high school and the launching of two middle schools.
"He's worked hard for us," Lacy said.
"We were glad we had his leadership to get us through this process," board member Susan McGuire said.
Hambly's current contract expires June 30. The board will begin working on a new contract soon.
