Pierce County Superior Court Judge Tom Larkin will retire on July 31, ending a 30-year career as a judge in Pierce County.

Judge Larkin served 20 years in Superior Court and 10 years in District Court.

The Superior Court Bench and the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association are sponsoring a retirement reception on July 22 at the Tacoma Yacht Club, beginning at 4:45 p.m. with buffet appetizers. Members of the public are invited, and tickets can be purchased for $30 at the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association office at 253-272-8871.

Judge Larkin graduated from Bellarmine Prep in 1966, Gonzaga University in 1970, and from Gonzaga Law School in 1973. He is a member of the Superior Court Judges’ Association, served as chair of the presiding Judges’ Education Committee, and was the leader in the Detention Reform Project at Remann Hall. He has served as a presiding judge in District Court, Juvenile Court, and Superior Court. He has instructed at many national, state, and local conferences on issues related to the justice system.

He looks forward to traveling and spending more time with his wife Mayo, his four children, and five grandchildren.
