On May 20, a Tacoma gang member was charged in the murder of 19-year-old Tacoma resident Brandon Morris, who was struck in the head during a drive-by shooting earlier this month. Trevion Jeremy Tyrone Tucker, 15, has been charged with murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree, and assault in the first degree. He is being held at Remann Hall pending a declination hearing on June 2, 2015 at 8:30 a.m.
“An innocent bystander is dead because of mindless gang violence,” said Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. “Gang violence in Pierce County is down, but there is still work to do. Our gang unit will hold everyone involved here accountable.”
Two other defendants, Alexander Jabbaar Kitt, 23, and Lance Alan Milton-Ausley, 17, previously pleaded not guilty to the murder, and are being held in lieu of $5 million bail and $1 million bail, respectively.
On the afternoon of May 1, 2015, the defendants were riding in a car in the area of South 45th Street and South Puget Sound Avenue. They spotted suspected rivals standing next to a convenience store. The defendants began shooting from the car as the driver turned down an alley. The victim was shot once in the head while standing with four friends outside of an apartment building adjacent to the alley. The victim and his friends are not in a gang, and detectives believe they were not the intended targets.
Charges are only allegations and a person is presumed innocent unless he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
