March 2 Bonney Lake police blotter

HIT AND RUN: An officer on Feb. 10 called in that he was on the scene of a collision in the 18400 block of state Route 410 and Pierce County Deputies were chasing the suspect driver west on SR410. Bonney Lake police arrivedto assist and were informed that the passed the secene and was going to assist when witnesses pointed out the suspect vehicle, which he followed two blocks and pulled over. When contacted the driver seemed distracted and distant, though he did not smell of intoxicants. Police asked to take blood for testing, which the suspect provided saying “I’ve got nothing to hide.” Police determined the suspect driver indicated a right turn, but then turned left to make a u-turn and hit the other driver, damaging both cars. This case is awaiting results from the state toxicology lab for possible DUI and hit and run charges.

THEFT: Police on Feb. 16 took a report regarding the theft of copper tubing from a construction site in the 11100 block of 172nd Avenue Place. The reporting party was contacted by a contractor who advised someone cut the tubing from inside the house in the bathrooms and kitchens. Police are investigating.

THEFT?: Police on Feb. 18 were dispatched to a resident regarding theft from a residence. On Feb. 15 Pierce County Deputies served the resident with a $1 million wrongful death claim and a moving and storage company handled collection and storage of items on the writ, but the reporting party said several items were missing form the house that were not on the writ, including a wallet containing cash and a gift card, a digital camera, a wedding band, and a prescription for Oxycodone. Police are looking into it, though deputies were on the scene during the service of the writ and the moving company is considered  “highly reputable.”

PROWL: Police on Feb. 18 took a report regarding a vehicle prowl in which an unknown person broke the window of a car parked in front of a residence and stole a GPS unit, a radar detector, a laptop, a planner and a blue tooth device. Police are investigating.

FRAUD: Officers on Feb. 18 took a report from a resident regarding five unauthorized credit card purchases that all occurred at approximately 2 a.m. and total $3,480. Police took the report and the victim contacted his bank to handle the matter.

SHOPLIFTERS: Police on Feb. 18 were called to Target for a report of two juvenile female shoplifters in custody. Store security alleged the girls went into the same changing room with concealed items and then left. Fitting room attendants went in after the girls and found discarded security tags. The girls then went to the jewelry department and were seen attempting to try and conceal jewelry before attempting to leave the store. Security stopped the girls and found more than $194 in concealed items on their person, including four pair of earrings, six sweaters and two shirts. The girls were trespassed from the store for two years and released to a parent. The case was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor for possible charges.

OVERSTAYED HIS WELCOME: Police on Feb. 19 took a report from a resident who allowed an acquaintance to live in a trailer on his property for 30 days, but the person was eventually asked to move out from the trailer. When the owner checked the trailer after the individual moved it, there was severe damage to inside walls and cabinets broken. The damage is estimated at $2,500. When the individual was contacted he said “Well it sounds like you have some vandalism in the neighborhood” and became defensive, refusing to provide a current address. The case has been forwarded for possible malicious mischief charges.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police on Feb. 22 took a report of malicious mischief from Mountain View Middle School involving an outdoor water fountain that was broken. One of the pipes appeared to have been purposefully broken and water was flowing into the ground. Police are investigating.
