Weekend drivers be warned: The northern section of state Route 167 will be closed this weekend so highway crews can install a fish-friendly culvert on Panther Creek where it passes under the highway in Renton.
Due to the construction, the highway will be closed in both directions from 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from I-405 in Renton to South 180th St. in Kent. The off-ramps from S. 180th Street will remain open on northbound SR 167 and the on-ramp from S. 180th Street to southbound SR 167 will remain open.
Drivers should expect delays at the interchange and plan to use detours.
The work is part of mitigation for an emergency culvert repair at Thunder Hills Creek in Renton near I-405. Crews are digging a 25-foot deep and 100-foot wide trench for the new 19′ wide culvert.
