The Bonney Lake city council on July 24 canceled tomorrow night’s meeting to allow members of the council, the mayor and staff to join the National Night Out festivities.

National Night Out is an annual event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

This year’s event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Sky Island Park, where a caravan of police and fire vehicles, led by motorcycle cop Vince Sainati, will lead the way to an hour-long ice cream social.

Then, the caravan will makes its way to Lake Debra Jane Park for a 6:45 p.m. hot dog barbecue.
