Voters throughout the Plateau, from Bonney Lake to Black Diamond, helped decide key ballot issues during Tuesday's primary election and set the stage for November's primary.
There were no seats to be decided on any local city council or school board. And in the next close-to-home election, both incumbents (Dan Roach and Jan Shabro) are unopposed in their bid for another term in the state House of Representatives.
Here are the results from some of Tuesday's notable ballot issues. Results are unofficial:
€ Fire District 12, request to re-authorize previous tax level: defeated 56 percent to 44 percent.
€ City of Buckley, Proposition 1 for Emergency Medical Services program: passed 77 percent to 23 percent.
€ Pierce County, Proposition 1, property taxes: defeated 55 percent to 45 percent.
In partisan races, here's who advanced to the November general election:
€ Governor: Chris Gregoire (D) and Dino Rossi (R).
€ Attorney General: Deborah Senn (D) and Rob McKenna (R).
€ Lieutenant Governor: Brad Owen (D) and Jim Wiest (R).
€ Secretary of State: Sam Reed (R) and Laura Ruderman (D).
€ 8th Congressional District: Dave Ross (D) and Dave Reichert (R).
In the non-partisan race:
€ Superintendent of Public Instruction: advancing will be incumbent Terry Bergeson and former SPI Judith Billings.
