Annexation is a popular issue in Enumclaw these days, and two more proposals will be discussed during a public meeting called for 6 p.m. June 10 at the Enumclaw Expo Center fieldhouse.

The city has gone through public hearings regarding the large Harkness annexation proposal and forwarded the issue to the King County Boundary Review Board.

Now, two more proposals – both smaller than the Harkness annexation – are under consideration. Staff will be available on the 10th to field questions and explain the annexation process. The issues working their way through the city are:

Abbott-Blick Annexation

This proposal takes in land along Southeast 432nd St., all within the Enumclaw Urban Growth Area. The petitioners are using the 60 percent petition method and has submitted the necessary property owners’ signatures. The annexation petition was certified by the King County Department of Assessments and found to be sufficient.

Being considered for annexation is 11.92 acres, now home to 23 people on 10 parcels. The land is valued at $2.38 million.

Lundeen Annexation

The Lundeen Annexation area is along the northern portions of the city boundary. It, too, is being promoted using the 60 percent petition method. The proponent has submitted the necessary signatures representing 10 percent of the assessed value.

The Lundeen annexation is larger than Abbott-Blick, taking in 89.3 acres. Currently, an estimated 97 people reside in the area, which has 49 parcels.
