Two Washington women have been charged with crimes after being investigated for insurance fraud by Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

Washington state Attorney General Robert Ferguson charged both women on June 30 with multiple counts in the separate cases.

Danielle R. Patrick, 38, was charged in Pierce County Superior Court with felony insurance fraud and attempted second-degree theft, a misdemeanor. According to the charges, Patrick filed a claim with Travelers Insurance for $1,799, stating that her vehicle had been broken into the night of May 13, 2013, at her home in University Place. She claimed that six items, including an Apple MacBook laptop, had been stolen. When the insurance company asked for proof that she owned the items, Patrick provided a falsified receipt for the laptop and sent a picture of the computer that was taken the day after she reported it stolen. Patrick will be arraigned on July 14.

Hollyanne E. Davis, 31, of Deer Park was charged in Spokane County Superior Court with second-degree theft, a felony, for filing false insurance claims totaling $2,815. According to the charges, Davis reported 15 false medical claims at five medical facilities for herself and three family members to her insurance company, AFLAC, from October until December 2011. Davis’ arraignment has not yet been set.

Kreidler’s Special Investigations Unit investigates insurance fraud and works with the Attorney General’s Office to prosecute criminal cases.  In 2013, the unit prevented more than $237,000 in losses in Washington state.
