Now that the 2014 U.S. Open in Pinehurst, N.C., has concluded, all eyes in the golf world are now turned to University Place’s Chamber Bay Golf Course. As part of its ongoing community outreach efforts, the Pierce County Council will hold an in-district meeting on Tuesday, July 8, in University Place, to talk about the 2015 U.S. Open among other items.
The meeting takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the county’s Environmental Services Building next to the Chambers Bay Golf Course. Representatives of the United States Golf Association (USGA) will make a presentation and answer questions about preparations for the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay in addition to the Council’s regularly-scheduled business items.
“At the Council, we’re constantly trying to make government more accessible to the people, which is why we hold multiple meetings around Pierce County throughout the year,” said Councilmember Connie Ladenburg, who represents the 4th District in which University Place resides. “I sincerely hope we get a good turnout for this great public event. Representative government only works when the people being represented have input into the process, and with today’s time constraints it’s often difficult to do. These in-district meetings make it a little easier for county residents to participate.”
