November 4, 5:00 – 7:00pm: Rabbit Processing Workshop – Join us at a fully functional farm that grows ducks, turkeys, and rabbits! This workshop held right on the farm, will cover everything from picking to processing your rabbit for food and pelts. Click Here for More Info.
November 7, 9:00am – 12:00pm: Meeker Creek Channel Restoration and Planting – To create better water quality conditions and improve salmon habitat the City of Puyallup has taken the straightened stream and put meanders back to create more natural stream conditions. Volunteers will be planting native trees and shrubs to shade and cool the creek. Click Here for More Info.
November 7, 10:00am – 3:00pm: DIY Fest – Come join us at DIY Fest, where we celebrate the do-it-yourself culture in Pierce County. Experts and aficionados will showcase their skills through hands-on activities. Learn fun and useful things on a variety of topics from crafting and sustainable living to cooking and home renovation. November 8, 1:00pm – 3:00pm: Hay, Layer Hen, and Cattle Farm Tour – Visit a 36 acre, 70 year-old farm which has been brought back from neglect by the current owners over the past nine years. The owners have applied the manure generated from their cattle and chickens onto the fields which had been hayed without any inputs for many years and were much depleted and in desperate need of nutrients. Through cross fencing and rotational grazing and weed management, they have managed to decrease the amount of weeds- primarily thistle on the property, and have increased the amount of forage and hay produced on the farm. November 14, 9:00 – 12:00pm: 1st Annual Green Puyallup Day – The Green Puyallup Partnership is building a sustainable network of healthy natural open spaces for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future generations with the goal of bringing 354 acres of Puyallup’s natural open spaces into active restoration. This first annual Green Puyallup Day will kick off this important work by supporting current site stewards of Silver Creek. November 19, 6:00 – 8:00pm: Mud Management/Winter Farm Projects – With 38-54 inches of rain every year, mud can easily become a problem on the farm. Mud harbors bacteria and diseases and causes more problems than a lost boot. Learn what you can do both in the short-term and long-term to eliminate mud on your farm.
