The Federal Emergency Management Agency has canceled the deployment of Washington State Task Force 1, one of 28 FEMA urban search and rescue teams in the nation.
The 80-member team was ready to go when the orders for the demobilization came in around 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Because of improving conditions and the lowered water levels, local and regional search and rescue task forces were able to work more efficiently, eliminating the need and expense of sending WA-TF1 across the country.
