UPDATE: Sumner police on Thursday resumed the search of Maurice Charles McCall. Sumner Police will be assisted by Pierce County Urban Search and Rescue, which includes bloodhounds, German shepherds, volunteers, a fixed-wing plane and a helicopter. These resources are being made available through Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team and Pierce County’s Department of Emergency Management.

Sumner and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team police are searching for a 21-year-old man who has been missing since disappearing from a party New Year’s Eve.
Maurice Charles McCall, described as a black male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 170 pounds with short, black hair, brown eyes and a goatee.
He was last seen around 1:30 a.m. Jan. 1 at a party in the 13700 block of 24th Street in Sumner.
According to a release from the Sumner Police Department, witnesses said McCall may have wandered off after being involved in a physical confrontation with another partygoer.
He has not contacted friends or family since that time.
McCall was last seen wearing either a white polo shirt or a tan long sleeve shirt with a zipper, tennis shoes, dark jeans a silver cross necklace and a cross ring on his finger.
McCall’s family originally contacted Sumner police Monday afternoon. A search began around noon Jan. 4. Teams from the Sumner Police Department, Sumner Public Works, Pierce County Metro Cities Crime Response Unit, City of Pacific, City of Auburn and a bloodhound from City of Fife.
The search was called off at dark, but detectives continued to follow up on all leads received throughout the night and it resumed at approximately 11 a.m. today, Wednesday.
Bloodhounds and helicopters are being used to aid the search, which is focusing on the industrial area of North Sumner, where McCall was last seen.
