TACOMA, WA – Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist has charged Tyler Graham, 24, Nicole Simons, 22, and James Reynolds, 19, with multiple counts of Malicious Mischief in the Second and Third Degree. During a week-long spree, the defendants damaged at least 86 vehicles parked in downtown Puyallup.

“This was senseless vandalism,” said Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. “Destroying property like this demonstrates the defendants’ lack of respect for their own community.”

Beginning on November 2, 2013, the defendants drove around late at night, swinging an aluminum baseball bat at vehicles parked on the street. Graham drove and Reynolds broke windows and side mirrors as he hung out of the car. Simons sat in the front passenger seat and was the lookout. On November 8, video surveillance caught Simons swinging a bat at the window of a pickup truck parked in the Puyallup Eagles lot.

Graham told detectives that he didn’t feel bad about damaging the vehicles because most of them “were old.” Reynolds did not have a reason for his actions other than, “It’s a good stress reliever.”

Law enforcement has documented damage to 86 separate vehicles, but they believe more victims may still come forward.

The defendants were arraigned yesterday and today. Bail was set for each defendant at $50,000. Charges are only allegations and a person is presumed innocent unless he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
