SHOPLIFT: Police on Sept. 3 were dispatched to Albertsons for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Employees witnessed a woman acting suspicious and then attempting to leave the store without paying for items. The suspect said she did not have her wallet and that her son would come back and pay for the items, but she had no cell phone to call him and no cash on her. The total value of the items she attempted to leave the store with was more than $184. She was cited for shoplifting and released. She was also trespassed from the store for one year.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Officers on Sept. 6 were dispatched to Safeway for a report of a burglary. An employee witnessed an unknown suspect enter the pharmacy and steal prescriptions the night before. The suspect allegedly removed ceiling tiles and crawled over the wall into the pharmacy. The suspect activated an alarm, however, and fled the scene when it went off. Store officials said nothing was taken. Police are investigating.
PROWLED: Police on Sept. 8 were dispatched to the 21500 block of 102nd Street Court East for a report of a theft from vehicle parked in front of a residence. An unknown suspect made off with a stereo faceplate valued at $300, a keychain with nine keys valued at $150 and miscellaneous change, cds and the manual. The vehicle was left unlocked and the windows down. Police are investigating.
VANDALS FILL TANK WITH WRONG FUEL: Officers on Sept. 9 were dispatched to the Bonney Lake Public Works Department for a report of damage to a vehicle. A personal vehicle left in the shop yards was damaged by an unknown suspect. According to the owner, all four tires were flat and the seat had been cut, but the vehicle now had a full tank of gas, as opposed to the half-tank he left in it, though it was a gasoline added to a diesel tank. Police are investigating.
FRAUD: Police on Sept. 9 were dispatched to the area of Target for a report of a shoplift in progress in which loss prevention were chasing two white males out of the store. According to a store employee, the suspects performed a receipt fraud in the amount of $71.02 by finding a receipt, collecting the items in the store matching the receipt and attempting to “return” those items for a refund before fleeing to store to a waiting vehicle. A third party was questioned near the vehicle who turned out not to be involved with the fraud, but had several outstanding warrants. The vehicle was impounded and the third party was transported to Enumclaw to be booked on his warrants.
FIGHT: Police late on Sept. 9 were dispatched to the New Peking for a report of a fight in progress. When police arrived the fight was broken up. According to witnesses, the two men involved in the fight fled the area on foot. Police stopped two men matching the description of those fighting and one man took off running. He was caught and denied being involved in the fight, though he appeared intoxicated. He was placed under arrest for obstructing a law enforcement officer for running from police and a records check revealed several outstanding warrants totaling more than $15,000. There were conflicting reports to exactly what happened to cause the fight, as all involved appeared intoxicated. The two involved were identified and transported to Buckley Jail for disorderly conduct charges.
DRIVING DRUNK?: Police on Sept. 10 were dispatched to state Route 410 for a report of a possible drunk driver. According to the reporting party, the driver also had blood on her and may have been hit in the head. Police stopped the vehicle at the Wendy’s and the driver admitted to taking Zoloft and potentially being impaired. Police did not smell any intoxicants. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle weave across several lanes. The driver failed several field sobriety tests, almost falling down multiple times. Police arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and she was transported to St. Elizabeth’s in Enumclaw for a blood draw. She asked to be evaluated at the hospital and was checked into the Emergency Department. She was also issued a citation and a court date.
WARRANTS AND DRUGS: Police on Sept. 12 were dispatched to the Safeway for a shoplift that just occurred. After watching a security video, officers radio the description of the suspects and a fellow officer detained one person matching the description. During a search, a glass pipe containing burnt marijuana residue was found on him and he was found to have an outstanding felony warrant. He identified the second suspect as a juvenile, but said he did not know where he was and did not witness him steal anything. He was transported to Enumclaw jail and booked on his outstanding warrant. He was also cited for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
