At its September 2015 meeting, the State Board of Education discussed the Supreme Court decision in League of Women Voters of Washington et al. v. State of Washington and its effect on charter schools currently operating in the state.
Due to the decision by the Washington State Supreme Court, approximately 1,200 Washington charter school students and their families may experience disruption to their school year.
The State Board of Education is concerned about potential lost instructional time and will continue to monitor the effects on students currently enrolled in Washington charter schools. The Board stands ready to assist within the limits of its statutory authority.
