Records Check: A routine records check for a vehicle driving on Veterans Memorial Drive revealed the registered owner possessed a suspended drivers license. Upon contact, the driver was found to possess stolen checks from a church collection box. May 22
Vehicle Prowl: A resident of 177th Avenue East reported a vehicle prowl that occurred the night before. Several items were stolen and the door lock was damaged to gain entry. There was no suspect information available at the time of report.
Vehicle Prowl: An officer responded to the report of a vehicle prowl on Locust Avenue that occurred the night before. The vehicle didn’t appear to be damaged but the victim’s wallet was stolen from the center console. There was no suspect information available.
Storage Unit: A resident reported their storage unit was broken into and several items were stolen. The victim was provided a theft inventory sheet and photos were taken of the scene. No further information was reported.
Welfare Check: Officers responded to the report of a subject sleeping in a car for several hours. Upon arrival, officers found suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession. He was arrested and booked into Pierce County jail.
Attempted Theft: An officer responded to a 192nd Avenue East retail store for the report of an attempted theft that had just occurred. The officer reviewed available surveillance and a possible suspect was determined. The case was forwarded to detectives for follow up.
Theft from Yard: A resident of 183 Avenue East reported the theft of decorative lights from his backyard the night before. No suspect information was available.
Suspended License: At about 10 p.m., a vehicle was pulled over for a defective headlight and expired registration. The driver possessed two warrants and a suspended drivers license. He was arrested and his vehicle was impounded.
May 23
Theft: An officer responded to the report of a storage unit that was broken into. The owner discovered the theft when he arrived and realized his key did not fit the lock because the thief presumably replaced it with a new one. Several items were stolen but no suspect information was available.
Agency Assist: Officers assisted Child Protective Services in following up on a welfare check, concerning unsanitary living conditions of two children. The environment was determined to be unfit and the children were temporarily removed from the home.
Stolen Property: Officers responded to the report of a suspicious woman attempting to pawn firearms. She fled before police arrived but left the guns on the counter, two of which were confirmed stolen. She was identified through video surveillance and records checks. An officer was notified while working the case, that she was in custody after her warrant was discovered while visiting a friend in jail. She was arrested for two counts of possessing a stolen firearm and one count of altering a serial number.
Under the Influence: An officer was notified by witnesses that a person was possibly driving under the influence in a SR 410 parking lot. The driver entered the roadway and was swerving out of her lane. She was arrested without incident for DUI, driving with a suspended license and an ignition interlock violation.
