The White River School District is revamping its website and it’s a work in progress.

“It takes a while to get it up and on its feet,” Technology Supervisor Pam Jeter said as she updated the White River School Board on the process at its regular meeting Oct. 13.

“We’ll be building the plane as we’re flying,” Superintendent Tom Lockyer said.

The system will also include changes from the district’s current e-mail and SWIFT page programs. Jeter said the new system comes with unlimited storage and plenty of bells and whistles for the future.

It will allow teachers to easily embed video and photographs and provide discussion forums for students and parents including surveys and blogs. Students will be able to take tests and submit homework online as well as download classroom resources.

“The student/teacher side is very attractive,” she said.

A training workshop is scheduled for Nov. 5.

In other business, the board:

• announced its next special meeting is tonight, Wednesday at Glacier Middle School and its next regular meeting is Nov. 10 in the board conference room. Both begin at 6 p.m.

• reminded the audience there will be no school this Friday.

• approved out-of-state travel for Director of Human and Administrative Resources Keith Banks and White River High School Assistant Principal Lainey Mathews to attend Crucial confrontations training in Arizona.

• accepted a leave of absence of Valerie Johnson and retirement of Patricia Nehring.
