Enumclaw resident Alana Lynn Schaafsma, 68, died February 11, 2019.
She was born July 10, 1950, in Auburn, Washington, to Grace and William Rutledge. She graduated in 1968 from Kent-Meridian High School and in 1974 she married Sam Schaafsma in Reno, Nevada. They built a home in Enumclaw in 1979. She enjoyed family camping trips, monthly Bunco nights with friends, barbeques and family dinners. Most of all she loved spending time with her seven grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter Michele (Tom) of Buckley; sons Matthew (Naomi) of Buckley and Lukas (Lindsey) of Enumclaw; seven grandchildren; and companion Jack Babcock of Federal Way. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam in 2008.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Mt. Rainier Christian Center, followed by a luncheon at The Claw, both in Enumclaw.
