Amelia Hlede died Jan. 12, 2014, at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Wash.
She grew up in the Osceola area of Enumclaw until the family moved to rural Buckley and operated a dairy farm. In 1946 she graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in mathematics and began working toward a master’s degree. When her parents became ill she returned to the farm to help the family. She went to work in the structural dynamics section at The Boeing Co. as an engineer. She was a member and served as president of Women In Business and was one of the founders of the Northwest Computer Association.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Buckley.
