Arlene Fay Clotfelter passed
away on September 28, 2020
surrounded by her children in
Enumclaw, Washington.
Arlene was born in Geddes,
South Dakota May 22, 1929 to
Joseph and Mamie Raymond,
she was one of seven Raymond
children. The family moved to
Southern California when she
was twelve years old where she
discovered her warm, ocean
beach playground. Upon graduating from
Redondo Beach High School in 1948 she married
Ralls Clotfelter and began her own family
life. The family moved only twice in 60 years.
First to Yucaipa, California where the kids
grew into teenagers and she and Ralls became
founding members of the Yucaipa Presbyterian
Church. The second move was to Poulsbo,
Washington in 1968, where the family resided
in Lofall, Hood Canal for forty-nine years.
Arlene loved her Hood Canal and Olympic
Mountain view, beautiful sunsets and seeing
her children grow.
She was a founding member of
the Poulsbo Promenaders square
dance club and enjoyed many
local friendships. Arlene was a
“mom to many” including family,
friends, neighbors, plus numerous
nieces and nephews who saw
her as mom when they needed an
extra one. Her home was always
open to family and friends who
visited easily and often.
Arlene was preceded in death
by her husband Ralls in 2009. She is survived
by her four children: Pam, Joe, Don, and Denise;
five grandchildren; three great grandchildren;
and one great-great granddaughter.
The Clotfelter family would like to thank
Living Court Assisted Living and Franciscan
Hospice for their loving attention as they cared
for and helped our mother the last few years
and during her recent passing.
Arlene will be interred with Ralls at Tahoma
National Cemetery in Kent, Washington next
Spring.
