Bertha Mary (Cnockaert) Lewis died Dec. 24, 2013, at the age of 87. She was most recently a resident at Expressions in Enumclaw.
She was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., to Kamiel and Maria Cnockaert. She married Elvin D. Lewis in Florida during World War II and were married on March 31, 1945. In the early 1970s they built a home on 10 acres in Enumclaw. She loved her family and her Lord, and served both faithfully. She enjoyed nurturing her children and grandchildren, gardening, sewing, garage sales, and having family Sunday dinners.
She is survived by her son David Lewis and wife Gayle Enumclaw; daughter Susan Bearup and husband John of Selah, Wash.; son John Lewis of Enumclaw; daughter Jennifer Gold and husband Rich of Enumclaw; brother Ernie; sisters Julia and Alice; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, a son Dennis Lewis in 1984 and three siblings.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bertha’s favorite charity, Feed The Children, at P.O. Box 36, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73101.
Services were at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley and burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park in Enumclaw.
