Charlotte Spear, known as Charlie, a long-time Enumclaw resident, passed away on December 28, 2024, at the age of 93.
Born on June 5, 1931, in Squirrel Idaho, Charlie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Spear. Charlotte was the proud founder of Charlie’s Cafe in Enumclaw, where she became known not only for her delicious food but creating a welcoming environment for all.
She never knew her dream of opening a restaurant would turn into a thriving business that has been family owned and operated for nearly 5 decades. Her family is proud to continue this legacy in her honor, for many years to come.
Charlie was taught all about hard work, growing up on a farm, which led to her strong work ethic in life. She also loved to travel and spend time with her family.
Charlotte’s legacy lives on through her children, Carrie Nyland, Linda Price, and Kevin Hathaway (Nancy); her eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her playful pranks, a great sense of humor, and the unforgettable fun she brought to everyone around her.
Charlie’s spirit will be missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to bring joy for years to come.
