DALE GILLESPIE

Former Enumclaw-area resident Dale LaVonne Gillespie, 82, died April 2, 2013.

He was born June 30, 1930, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Doc and Marietta (Dodge) Gillespie. After attending Lincoln High School, he traveled extensively while with the U.S. Navy. He was employed with United Airlines for 37 years and retired in 1989. He was a member of the Machinist’s Union, United Airlines Retired Employees and First Presbyterian Church. He was an avid baseball fan and bird lover.

He is survived by wife Fern Gillespie; son Lawrence Gillespie of New York, N.Y.; two grandchildren and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by brothers Lloyd and Rex Gillespie; son Michael Gillespie; first wife and mother of his children Irene Gillespie; and second wife Evelyn Gillespie.

Services took place Friday, April 5, at First Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial was at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
