David L. Morehouse died June 28, 2014.
He was born Feb. 14, 1937, in a log cabin in a small community near Northome, Minn., the youngest of three boys born to Roy and Mary Morehouse. In 1945, the family moved to the Sumner area and, in 1950, to the Buckley area. He graduated from White River High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Boeing in 1992 after more than 35 years of employment. Upon retirement, he joined up with a group of mostly senior citizens who walked about three miles every morning in the Buckley area. He enjoyed dogs and spoiled every one of them, including his current cocker spaniel Patches.
David made his own decisions in life, including how it would end. On June 15, 2014, he made the decision to discontinue any additional medical treatment. He spent his final days visiting with friends and family and enjoying the foods that he had been unable to eat due to dietary restrictions.
He is survived by partner of 45 years Rena Rea, or Liz, as she is known by many, and a sister, Arlene.
A memorial is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Buckley cemetery. The urn with his ashes will be buried in one of the plots that he purchased for himself and Rena a number of years ago.
