Dennis M. Wall died June 3, 2019.
He was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Cleveland, Utah, to Morris Alva and (Martha) Laverna Wall (Funk). During his younger years he he could be found on his motorcycle or a horse or finding the perfect place spot to camp, relax and fish. He also spent a few summers during his teen years working in fish packing canneries in Anchorage, Alaska. He met Barbara Jean Seay while living in Price, Utah, and they married on June 14, 1957. They relocated to a rural area just outside Salt Lake City and from 1958 to 1968 their family grew. He spent 40 years in the beverage business, from soft drinks to coffee, which led to relocating his family to Renton in 1976. Family was a priority, whether it involved vacations, hitting the drive-in theater or coaching his sons’ sports teams. Later, he coached an “Over 40” women’s soccer team of which his wife was a member.
Through the years, the couple were able to travel. In retirement, they turned their eyes to the road and traveled in an RV to the Sunbelt to meet with old friends and play golf; they eventually purchased a winter home in Arizona to enjoy the warmer weather.
He is survived by daughters Deena Carter of Roswell, New Mexico, and Cindy Wall (Jim Whipps) of Chelan, Washington; sons Perry Wall (Melody), Brett Wall (Misty) and Chad Wall (Michelle), all of Maple Valley, Washington; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; brothers Melvin N. Wall and Rolland C. Wall, and sister Lajuana Wall-Ocakey.
Because he battled COPD and emphysema, the family requests that in lieu of flowers a memorial be made in his name to the American Lung Association, 1200 Hosford St., Suite 101, Hudson, Wisconsin 54016-9316 or at www.lung.org.
A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. July 17 at New Community Church, 21401 244th Ave. S.E. in Maple Valley.
