Dolly Fugate, a lifetime Enumclaw resident, died April 5, 2019.

Dolores (Dolly) Fugate, a lifetime Enumclaw resident, died April 5, 2019 at the age of 91, surrounded by her children. Dolly was born on October 29,1927 to Fenton and Sylvia Grennan, she was the only surviving sibling of their eleven children. Dolly graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1945 and as the Student Body President, incorporated the first caps and gowns for the graduating classes at EHS.

She married Jim Fugate, her high school sweetheart on October 26, 1946 and together they celebrated 63 years and 8 children.

Dolly was a member of Sacred Heart Parish her entire life and lived her faith daily (including walking to daily mass) and continually put others before herself.

Dolly had a love for water, spending summers boating and swimming at Lake Tapps and Lake Sawyer and in the later years at Hood Canal. She had many enjoyable moments golfing with her husband as well as with family and friends in Palm Springs. Dolly always looked forward to the occasional weekend trips with her daughters. Being Grandma Dolly was one of her most joyous roles in her life. Making sure all the grandchildren knew the drawer was always full of treats for them. Even in her final days she was able to hold and hug so many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Sheela Kranc and husband Tom, Keith Fugate and wife Sandy, Gregg Fugate and wife Teri, Sandy Birkeland and husband Mark, Karen Fugate and partner Brita Nykreim, and Sharon Fugate; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Dolly was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Alexis, daughter Kathy Rogers, son Bill Fugate and husband Jim Fugate.

Viewing and Rosary were at Weeks’ Enumclaw Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 10th. Celebration of life was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw on Thursday, April 11th.
