Donald Truman Ennis died July 5, 2018, at the Washington Soldiers Home in Orting.
He was born March 14, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Janet D. Wells and Clarence S. “Happy” Ennis. After spending his childhood in Cincinnati, he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, where he met Carol Anne Knight. They were married June 24, 1961. He was an alumnus of La Puente High School and California State University, Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years, advancing to the rank of senior chief petty officer before retiring in 1987. He later became a high school electronics teacher, retiring in 1995. He will be remembered for his service to God, country and his family; his generosity to friends and strangers; and his entertaining stories.
He is survived by his wife Carol; children Pamela, Spencer, Scott, Melinda, Donald, Aaron, Rachel and Jessica; 21 grandchildren and his six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, July 27, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Enumclaw Church of Latter-day Saints, 246 Semanski St.
