Donald H. Schmitt died peacefully April 7, 2017, surrounded by family.

He was born April 9, 1939, to Violet and Henry Schmitt in Glasgow, Mont. While in high school he worked with his father at Schmitt’s Texaco in West Seattle, but flying became a passion. After earning a pilot’s license, he was hired by Alaska Airlines in 1966 and flew all over the globe until retiring in 1993.

He is survived by wife Pat; sons Kevin, Jeff, Greg and Jay; daughter Stacy; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enumclaw. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Trinity Lutheran Preschool, 24711 S.E. 440th St., Enumclaw, 98022.
