Dorla D. (Duncan) Spaan died Aug. 5, 2011, at her home in Cotati, Calif. She was 79.
She was a native of Keota, Okla., and former resident of Greenbrae, Calif., before moving to Cotati. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by children Penni Spaan Raymond of Missoula, Mont., Kevin Spaan and wife Julie of Novato, Calif., Scott Spaan of Penngrove, Calif., Sally Spaan of Rohnert Park, Calif., Becky Aldrich and husband Gary of Navarre, Fla., and Joseph Spaan and wife Kim of Hazelwood, Mo.; sisters Shirley Aden and Alayne VanHoof of Enumclaw; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was sister-in-law to Bill Aden, Lawrence VanHoof and Shad Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Donald W. Spaan, and sisters Betty Davis and Margie Nelson.
A vigil service took place Aug. 11 at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crematory in Petaluma, Calif., and a funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 12 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cotati. A private interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael, Calif.
