On Sunday, June 18, 2023, Duane Anders Ainsworth, 64, went home to be with Jesus as he passed away at his home in Enumclaw, surrounded by loved ones.
Duane was born on January 11, 1959 at Community Memorial Hospital in Enumclaw, WA.
Duane was twin to Debbie, and child 10 of 12 born to Guy and Nadine (Milligan) Ainsworth.
Duane was a lifelong resident of Enumclaw.
On April 8, 1976, Duane and Kari (Aldrich) Ainsworth were married at the Auburn Courthouse. Together, Duane and Kari raised four children: Molly, Guy (Spencer), Anders, and Katie at the old blue house on 284th.
Duane spent over a decade working as a milker on local dairy farms. In 1988, he began a long career at Puget Sound Energy (then Washington Natural Gas), where he became a pipefitter and eventually a Public Improvement and Weld Inspector. Duane was recognized by all for his work ethic and willingness to mentor early-career pipefitters. Duane truly loved his job, as he would stay at Puget Sound Energy until his passing.
Duane was a family man. He was known as “Dad” to a few, but “Papa” to most. He enjoyed life and always stayed busy. He took pride in caring for his home, his garden, his yard, his vehicles, and most importantly his family. Duane frequently vacationed with his family in Sunland, where he was captain of the pontoon boat, the Sandy Clam. Duane was a lover of sports, and to the end Papa could be seen watching his grandkids’ games, while simultaneously giving them advice on how to get better.
Duane was preceded in death by his father Guy Ainsworth; mother Nadine (Milligan) Ainsworth; brother Jerry Ainsworth; sister Carol Brevik; and twin sister Debbie Love. He is survived by his wife Kari; father-in-law Joseph Aldrich; mother-in-law Joy Aldrich; sisters Jody Scott, Judy Fosberg, Sandra Barton, Denise (Gordy) VanHoof, Mavis Martinson and Delores Wagner; brothers Robert (Shireen) Ainsworth and Gary Ainsworth; children Molly (Keith) Sonneson, Guy Spencer (Catalina) Ainsworth, Anders (Erika) Ainsworth and Katie (Michael) Martinez; grandchildren Kelsey, Brian, Hayley, Bennon, Jaelynn, Michael, Addison, Kendall, Luke, Aaron and Jackson; great- grandchildren Wayde, Boyd, Natalie, Hank and Leah.
Duane was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Hillside Community Church at 11 am on Saturday, July 8, 2023. Please share a memory of Duane on the tribute wall at www.weeksfuneralhomes.com.
