Edward C. Powell died Dec. 25, 2018, following a short battle with cancer. He was 61.
He was resident of Buckley, formerly of Rogue River, Oregon, where he graduated in 1975. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Francis Powell and Edna (Cassidy) Powell. He was a Seattle Mariners fan who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, crabbing and camping. He loved to barbecue and smoke meats, sit around a fire pit having a beer and telling stories. He loved classic cars, attending car shows and took great pride in his 1969 Chevy Chevelle. He was a long-haul truck driver by profession, ending his career working with LC Trucking.
He is survived by his domestic partner of 11 years, Laura Smith; daughters Angela E. Powell (Eric Ballentine), Jennifer Powell (Blew) and Amy Powell; stepchildren Amber Rainey, Jackie, Tiffany, Darren, Corey, Michael and Ryan; siblings Pearl Trusty, Earl Powell, Don Powell and Michael Capps; 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A military service will take place at 9 a.m. Jan. 18, at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 S.E. 240th St., Kent, 98042. A celebration of his life will follow at the Swiss Sportsmen’s Club of Tacoma, 9250 198th Ave. E., Bonney Lake 98391.
