Lifelong Buckley resident Eugene Albert Peterson died Dec. 17, 2016, at the age of 90. He died at the family home, where he had lived for 89 years.
He was born April 1, 1926, in Buckley, the eldest of two sons born to Albert O. Peterson and Mae Louise (Leloup) Peterson. He was a 1944 graduate of Buckley High School and worked for Northwest Door in Tacoma at the foot of the 11th Street bridge. On his 90th birthday he walked across the 11th Street Bridge. He never married or had children, but sponsored hundreds of children through the years from around the world through Plan International. He also contributed to numerous other charities.
He is survived by brother Lowell A. Peterson and wife Janet.
Burial is with his parents at the Buckley Cemetery.
