Fred Benjamin Miller Jr. died July 12, 2019. He was 69.
He was born on June 14, 1950, in Enumclaw to the late Fredrick and Sarah Miller. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from White River High School and served in the 9th Motor Transport Battalion, 3rd Marine Division during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant having earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge.
Following his military service he followed in his father’s footsteps and went to work in the woods as a logger. After a career of nearly 30 years as a logger he worked for many years as a maintenance technician for the city of Sumner. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and hunting deer and elk. As a younger man he enjoyed baseball and softball.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl; daughters Erika and Jessica; sons Luke and Matt (Dayna); brothers Bob and Ron; sister Norma; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Arlene and brother-in-law Ray.
He will be inurned at Tahoma National Cemetery.
